Smog hitting hard the Punjabi region
For the past week the weather of Pakistan has been transitioning from a warm autumn to mild start of winter, but just like every year the winter brings the problem of smog. Smog has been a major problem faced by the Indian Subcontinent region and has seriously affected the health of the people of these regions. Here’s a link to news about the situation.
Researching about smog
Our students researched about the reasons causing the smog. They found out how smog caused by the air pollution and the odor and opaqueness mentioned on the internet is exactly how they are experiencing right now. The students found out about the health side effects that smog cause such as breathing problems and also could cause nervous problems if being exposed to too much. For majority of the students, it was very new to find out about the difference between smog and fog.
From theory to action
The students further discussed and researched how they can protect themselves and their loved ones and about the protective methods against the smog. They learnt how important masks are in order for the polluted air to not be inhaled and how they should try to stay inside unless when it’s really necessary to go out. This activity and research were vital as it is a real problem faced by the population of Pakistan, and the awareness around this topic is very limited. The students were able to learn a lot and would surely be able to share the information amongst their families and save many from bad health.
