News and Update 23 January 2021

It is beyond doubt that knowledge of first aid promotes a safer and healthier environment. Having students who are well equipped with first aid skills contribute to enhancing the safety of the centers. The accidents might lead to simple injuries, serious wounds or fractures. However, the victim can be given initial assistance until the doctor arrives. It is important to have trained students who can utilize their skills and take quick action to treat the affected person. They can apply the right procedures to prevent more damage.

Therefore this whole month the activity focus was upon the first aid. Most of the students didn’t know what this meant because they have never encountered it before. firstly they were researching and processing just the introductions such as the meaning of the first aid. Then slow and steady they started to learn different first aid moves and skills that are to be performed in case.

They learned the basic first aid knowledge helps in treating:

  • Bleeding
  • Burns
  • Unresponsiveness or unconsciousness
  • Head injuries
  • Bone injuries
  • Muscle injuries
  • Joint injuries
  • Choking
  • Fainting
  • Chest pains
  • Asthma
  • Allergic reactions

The rather younger students learned about how to treat their own small injuries by washing the wounds immediately and avoiding the germs to attack. The older children learned about checking the pulse, Giving CPR, how to treat someone who is chocking. After all the research work they performed practical skits so they know how to put in use whatever they just learned.

In our opinion, this activity was really important not just for academic purpose but also for the future practical life of the students as well as their families because now the students know enough stuff that they can use in public and at their house to prevent worse situations.
